We strongly encourage parents to participate in our survey. The survey provides an opportunity for teachers, students, and parents to weigh in on school climate and learning conditions.
Wilmington Community Unit School District is a four-school district located in the Kankakee River Valley, 50 miles southwest of Chicago. Our close-knit community walks united with our schools every day to set our students up for excellence in our K–12 schools and beyond.
We invite you to take the time to get to know our district and our schools. We know you’ll be impressed by all that we offer our community. Along with classrooms steeped in rigorous curriculum, our students enjoy valuable health services, and our foundation provides the resources needed for exceptional instructional opportunities. If you have any questions about our school, please give us a call.
A Message from Our Superintendent
Welcome to Wilmington CUSD 209U, home of the Wildcats! It has been my distinct pleasure to lead this district over the past eleven years and to watch the children of Wilmington grow and thrive here. Being a native of Wilmington myself, I am honored and humbled every day that I get the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of the students we educate. In Wilmington School District 209U, we strive to prepare the children we serve to leave us behind someday and enter the world as positive, contributing members of society. We hope that our students will look back and appreciate the solid foundation we helped them to build, and that it supports and carries them throughout the rest of their lives. The Wilmington Board of Education, administrators, teachers, and support staff in this district do an excellent job of putting the needs of Wilmington’s children first, and I am proud to be part of such a caring and dedicated group of professionals.
We are Wilmington, We are One!
Yours in Education,
Dr. Jay Plese
